When you want to take in the pleasures of your own yard - patio or pool, fun with kids or parties with adults - you deserve to do so in complete comfort. You shouldn't have to be at the mercy of annoying insects, mosquitoes, no-see-ums and their painful bites. Fortunately, you won't be with MistAway - the revolutionary automatic mosquito misting system that effectively eliminates mosquitoes and other biting insects from your yard.

Once installed, our system virtually disappears into your landscape. You won't even know it's there. Whatever your requirements, a Mist Away mosquito misting system can be customized to fit your yard perfectly.

The automatic mosquito misting control unit - either our innovative tankless mosquito misting model or our traditional drum-based mosquito misting model - is located anywhere that is convenient to a water faucet and electrical outlet.

The precision-engineered mosquito misting nozzles are installed about every 10-15 feet around the perimeter of your property; on fence lines, trees and risers positioned in the landscaping for a mosquito-free yard.

The misting unit's electronic controller is programmed to automatically initiate a 30 - 60 second mosquito-killing mist around dawn and again at dusk, when the mosquitoes are most active and other beneficial insects - like bees and butterflies - are not.

The fine mist drifts around the property and settles on the grass and landscaping, killing any mosquito that comes in contact with it. MistAway's mosquito misting systems can also help control other unwanted insects, like spiders, flies, gnats and no-see-ums.

The Mist Away Mosquito Misting Systems works automatically or with a handheld remote and provides worry free outdoor mosquito control. You'll never again have to spray your kids with messy repellents, or remember to fog your backyard before an evening cookout.

Life is too short to feel uncomfortable in your own backyard. With a MistAway Misting System, you won't have to.

Formulations Used in Mosquito Mist Systems

Mosquito system misting is safe for people and pets

Botanical - Pyrethrin

The active ingredient in the formulations most commonly used in outdoor insect  control and automated mosquito mist systems is called pyrethrin, which is derived from the extract of a certainvariety of chrysanthemum flowers.  Though pyrethrin comes from flowers, it is not completely correct to think of it as either “natural” or “organic” because it is highly refined and contains a man-made “synergist” that increases its effectiveness.  When applied in a mist, pyrethrin flushes mosquitoes from foliage where they harbor and then impairs their nervous system.  Shortly after application, the pyrethrin is rapidly degraded by sunlight, and leaves the yard free of residue.

Man-Made Botanical – Permethrin

Scientists have developed a synthetic variant of pyrethrin, called permethrin, that has most of the same characteristics as pyrethrin.  An important difference is that the man-made permethrin is not as readily destroyed by sunlight and leaves a longer lasting residue.  This can be desirable if the mosquito activity is very high or in an application – like an outdoor restaurant - where the mosquito mist system should not run during the dusk cycle because people are around.

The Safety of Mosquito Misting Treatment Formulations

Natural pyrethrin and synthetic permethrin are the most common formulations used in misting-based mosquito treatment. They are among the least poisonous insecticides to mammals, and are important ingredients in products commonly found in most homes, like household aerosols and pet shampoos.

While they are low in toxicity to people and pets, it is not a good idea to come into close or frequent direct contact with the mist. Inhalation can cause respiratory problems (coughing, wheezing, etc.) and skin contact can cause a rash or itching. That's why on every Mist Away Mosquito Misting System, you'll see a Caution sign that reads "Do not mist in the presence of people, pets or food."

The U.S. EPA has recently published its findings of a review of pyrethrin and permethrin as used in automated residential mosquito misting systems:

"Based on its assessment, using toxicity data and exposure estimates, EPA does not expect risks of concern to humans when these chemicals are used in outdoor residential systems according to labeling specific for use in these systems. However, excessive use or accidents may pose risks. No pesticide should be regarded as 100% risk free."

Zika Warning

What you need to know about Zika:

  • Zika is spread primarily through mosquito bites from infected mosquitos.  It can also be transmitted through sexual contact from an infected person with the virus to his/her sexual partners.

  • Many areas in the U.S. have the type of mosquitos that can spread the Zika virus.

  • The best way to avoid Zika is to prevent mosquito bites, which may be accomplished through aggressive mosquito control, among other things.

  • Zika is linked to serious birth defects, including microcephaly---- a sign of incomplete brain development.

  • Pregnant women should not travel to areas with Zika.
