Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a Mosquito Control Mist System cost?

This depends on the size of the area to be misted and how many nozzles will be required for adequate coverage. For a professionally installed Mosquito Misting System, you should expect to spend about what you would spend for an installed irrigation system for your home. That is, the larger the property and area you are trying to protect, the higher the price. The average cost for a small system will start in the $1,500.00 price range. For a “representative” home sitting on a standard quarter-acre lot, plan on a purchase price in the $2,500 - $4,500 range.

How do I know how many nozzles I'll need?

The nozzles should be placed approximately every ten feet along perimeter lines. If there is abundant landscaping the nozzles should be placed approximately every eight feet.

How does the system repel mosquitoes?

The system does not repel mosquitoes, it kills them, their nest, eggs, and larvae active in standing water. It continually eliminates the mosquito population living and breeding in your landscaping, bushes, grass, flowerpots, birdbaths, etc.

How often will I need to replenish the system?

This depends on the number of nozzles, mist duration, and number of mist cycles per day.

Example:

  • Unit:  55 Gallon Drum

  • Nozzles:  20

  • Mist Duration:  2 minutes per day seven days a week

  • Replenishment Cycle:  (*) 123 Days

  • Season Length: 270 Days

*But wait! When you want to enjoy your yard you will probably use the remote for additional mist cycles to clear the area of pesky flies, no-see-ums, and mosquitoes that wander in between scheduled mistings (at dawn and dusk). This is why we generally say you can count on replenishing every 90 days during the peak mosquito season.

You may choose to mist every other day, or three days a week, or only on command with the remote, which would stretch the replenish cycle even farther out. You are not limited to every day misting - but for maximum effect, every day is recommended.

How much should I expect to pay each replenishment?

If you are a do-it-yourselfer you can find the Pyrethrin at your local pest control store. You can expect to pay from $125 - $150 per half gallon (the replenishment size).

NOLA Misting Systems offers a maintenance service starting at $150 which includes replenishment only, or an expanded maintenance service at $250 which includes with each replenishment a diagnostic test of system, inspection of mist line and nozzles, repair or replace any mist line or nozzle parts necessary, no charge for winterization of system ($75) or service calls ($65) in between replenishments (minimum of two (2) replenishments per season).
